A note from Kyle

Word of Thanks proves that small acts of goodness and generosity make Colorado a better place to live. Every week since 2020, thousands of Coloradans have pooled $5 donations to boost a nonprofit doing the work. We don’t keep a dime.

Thank you for building a powerful force for good in Colorado.

Frequently asked

A few good questions.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. Every featured Word of Thanks nonprofit is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity, and you'll receive an email receipt for your tax-deductible gift.

How do you choose the nonprofits?

Most weekly recipients are nominated by Coloradans like you. Every organization is vetted before being featured. We look for direct-service nonprofits operating in or meaningfully serving Colorado.

Are there fees? How much of my donation actually reaches the nonprofit?

The Colorado Gives Foundation processes donations at low cost. If you choose to cover the small processing fee at checkout, 100% of your gift reaches the featured nonprofit. Word of Thanks itself takes nothing — administrative costs are paid by Kyle Clark personally.

What is the Word of Thanks Fund?

The Word of Thanks Fund is a way to simplify your giving with a recurring monthly donation. The Colorado Gives Foundation equally divides your monthly gift among the featured nonprofits each month, at no additional cost to you or the nonprofits. You'll receive an email receipt for your tax-deductible donation. Administrative fees are paid by Kyle Clark.

How do I change or cancel my monthly donation?

You can manage your recurring donation directly through Colorado Gives. Click here to update the amount or cancel.

About

What is Word of Thanks?

A weekly giving project for Coloradans by Coloradans, created by Kyle Clark. Every week, we feature a nonprofit, tell their story, and invite our community to support their work together. Donors pool their gifts of $5 or more, raising more than $50,000 per week in 2026.

Word of Thanks hasn't missed a week of giving since its launch in 2020. Kyle asks donors to give $5 and matches the first fifty $5 donations himself. More than 7,500 of our neighbors have signed up to become recurring monthly donors to the Word of Thanks Fund. Click here to set up a monthly gift in the amount of your choice. Each month, it will be automatically split among all the nonprofits we feature. No need to remember to give weekly. It's local philanthropy made simple, accessible, and impactful. Kyle covers the annual administrative costs of the Word of Thanks Fund.

In six years, Coloradans have given more than $18 million through Word of Thanks via 300+ weekly campaigns — from neighborhood food pantries to mental health support for farmers and ranchers — from cleaning up after natural disasters to building community projects like inclusive playgrounds.
